Philip Jackson

Full Bio(pdf)

Philip Jackson juxtaposes everyday objects in artistic ways while exploring the luminescent effect of light on art forms. By doing so, he gives everyday objects a whole new radiance through art. He also likes to work with tension in his compositions. Some of his works nearly re-create an action frozen in a nanosecond of time such as the breaking of an egg. He currently heads the painting department and teaches at the University of Mississippi, in Oxford. He earned his BFA from the Columbus College of Art & Design, in Ohio in 2000, and his MFA. in 2002 at Bowling Green State University, in Ohio. In 2001 Jackson was awarded the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Fellowship.
