Joyce Koskenmaki

Joyce Koskenmaki received her MFA in painting from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. She currently lives in the far northern reaches of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The wilderness surrounding her represents her chosen imagery. Her current imagery is focused on trees, primarily birch trees. Her early graduate studies in Chinese landscape painting and travels in China have deeply affected her approach to her work. Like many artists today, she is concerned with the natural environment which we share. Through her art, she provides a way in which people can look more closely at the land we all inhabit, to become more intimate with it, to see it in human terms, and to call it all our home.
