Hentschel Art Gallery
Hilde DeBruyne-Verhofste
Full Bio(pdf)
As a child, Hilde grew up around clay as her father was a clay sculptor, living in Belgium. Clay is a passion and a language for Hilde. Her sculpting inspiration is drawn from life, nature, rocks and bones, from human body shapes, especially the pregnant belly. Her forms are very simple and streamlined, abstract and organic. They evoke the idea of growth, change, and inner rest. Hilde's hope is that the sculptures will cause a feeling of connectedness and inner happiness.
