The BLues, April 11 - May 27, 2008

Nancy Purington

Nancy Purington was born and raised on the Mississippi River. The influence of eternal qualities of water are emphasized in The Blues exhibition. The Blues premiers a series of paintings called IN THE DARK, honoring jazz composer Bix Beiderbecke. Titles from his works are applied to celebrate atmospheric effects from the Mississippi River in Davenport where Beiderbecke and Purington were born. Purington's works have been exhibited in several museums and appear in many collections including Wells Fargo, Pappajohn College of Business Building, Bellon/Blank Center & Iowa Memorial Union on the UI Campus; ACT Corporation, Iowa City; Terrace Park Medical Center, Bettendorf; American Airlines, St. Louis; Arizona Country Club, Scottsdale.
